Photographing from the high vantage point of his apartment window on New York's Fifth Avenue, Kertész silhouetted leafless trees against the snow in Washington Square Park. He released the camera shutter to perfectly capture two pedestrians in mid stride through the wintry landscape, introducing an element of dynamism to the carefully constructed composition.
Extremely rare pair of the Kertesz's iconic Washington Square images. Each is on 24 x 20 in. paper and framed in custom contemporary white frame with mat and UV Plexi. Virtually all the 24 x 20 images were sold separately, so it is doubtful there are more than two or three other paired examples in this size. The larger prints of these images are quite scarce even individually. These were the last pair in the estate in this size.
