Signed in pencil on lower right recto of mount.Born in 1890, Floyd Butler Evans was a California Pictoralist photographer active from the 1920s through the 1960s. Mostly known as a landscape photographer, Evans was based in Pasadena and Los Angeles and was also a member of the Los Angeles Camera Club. He and a band of fellow members who frequented the CA desert called themselves the Pack of Rats.Evans was also a contemporary of Edward Weston, and his works are held in many collections and museums throughout the US, including the Southwest Museum, Los Angeles and the Bancroft Library, Berkeley, CA.He passed away in California in 1966.
