About This Image
With stamp of photographer's 45 rue du Port St. Ouen address, which he was at from 1864-1875, on recto of mount. Number '455' reversed out of negative. Man appears to be holding a harness.
Taupin appears to have been active in Paris from at least the end of the 1850s through the beginning of the 1880s. he was known primarily for romantic landscapes, like this one, and art reproductions. There was also a daguerreotypist of the same last name in Paris in the late 1840s, but it is uncertain if this is the same photographer.
