Hand coloring of blue and gold accents this fine portrait of a newly married couple, she in an ornate gown with gold drop earrings; he in open waistcoat with broad, black tie. The woman's ring (which was worn on the left hand--the daguerreotype reversing the image) is prominently displayed. A slight inclination of her head adds a lyrical, timeless quality to the scene.
