Three men and three young boys stand proudly outside a building--most likely a blacksmith's shop. Two of the men, in work clothes and rolled-up shirt sleeves, hold metal tools. The subjects all share common body language, and are uniformly arranged in the composition, which is stong. Crisp details of vegetation, as well as the ploughs themselves, are evident despite the numerous small abrasions in the emulsion, and small creases in the tin.
Overall wear and tear, but a fine specimen of agricultural and social norms in middle-America, clearly drawn.
