Caption reads "Jumping John Thomas begins his take-off hoping to break his own 7'1.5" world mark he set recently. And break it he did. He curled over the bar at 7'2" to thrill a crowd of 13,567 at the Garden last night.
Charles Hoff photographed for the Daily News from the 1930's through the 1960's. During it's heyday, the Daily News had 4 million subscribers for the Sunday Edition and was the largest circulated paper in the United States. It was specifically known for the photographs and in 1956 the photography staff won the Pulitzer Prize for Journalism.
