Photographer's, agency and publication stamps on verso. Published in the Daily Mirror, Sept. 25, 1970. Newspaper clip affixed to verso. Referred to as a "cartoonist with a camera," David McEnery began his career in photojournalism in England, his homeland. McEnery turned to the lighter side of photography after a succession of assignments covering human tragedies. His amusing photographs of cats have now become his trademark. Books include: "Classic Cats" and "Smiles: a Collection of Humorous Photographs". Born in Walsall (UK) in 1936, he grew up in Brighton. His work appeared in Paris Match, Stern and LIFE Magazine.
