About This ImageWith negative number (276) reversed out of the image at bottom left. See: Mayer, Eugene Cuvelier, p.139, pl.276 for an illustration of this image and Jammes & Parry-Janis, Art of the French Calotype, p.162 for more information on Cuvelier. Cuvelier along with his father Albert (also a photographer) studied painting as well as photography using a dry paper process. The influence of the Barbizon School (lead by Millet and Rousseau from 1830 to the 1870s) cannot be underestimated in its influence on Cuvelier's photographic style. Even Corot, the famous landscape painter, was Eugene's best man at his marriage to the daughter of a Barbizon innkeeper. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges. ![]() |
