About This Image

Beyond the water and the fishing nets, the snowy peak of Mt. Fuji can be seen clearly.

Hungarian photographer Francis Haar and his wife Irene lived in Japan for twenty years in the 1940s and 1950s. When the war began there in 1941, Haar and his wife and children were sent to Kuruizawa, a resort town for foreigners from neutral nations. His photographs have been exhibited extensively in Japan and the United States.
