A graphic pictorial study. Signed by the photographer in pencil on the recto of the mount. Leighton's and a California Pacific International Expo (1935) label with title and the word "Gum" on the verso. A few very light spots in the sky area as seen on scan. Born in England, Leighton, who lived and worked in Bradford, U.K., was an active member of the Royal Photographic Society and the Camera Pictorialists of Los Angeles. He was very active in the salons of the day from about 1915 until his death in 1947. A number of his images were published in the American Annual of Photography in the 1920s and 1936. His work is included in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Museum of American History, Smith College Museum of Art, the Worcester Art Museum, Princeton University and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia. He is listed in the Auer and Auer and George Eastman House databases
