Printed by Berenice Abbott from Atget's damaged negatives with a "Eugene Atget Photograph, Collection Berenice Abbott" stamp on verso, plus other handwriting. This image set a World Auction Record for Atget at $686,500 in a print by Atget himself, and this may be one of the earliest prints of the image made by Abbott. Prints of this image by Abbott are scarce and sought after. Provenance: from the artist about 1960 to photographer Maggie Smith, life partner of W.Eugene Smith.
