About This Image

Two burros are eating fodder, while a little girl looks on from the doorway of a thatched hut in this pictorialist view of Mexico. Unmounted silver print on "Mortensen texture" paper is signed by photographer on the verso. Print has a slight crease, which is visible on the verso, but not noticeable on the front. Overall a very good photograph. Llewellyn was a photographer who worked in Mexico in the 1930s-1940s. He worked in a pictorialist style, often printing with texture screens. He photographed the noted Mexican artist Diego Rivera.
