About This Image
Blanquart-Evrard was a very important printer and pioneer of photographic printing processes. He was the first to publish in France on the calotype negative/positive paper process, and in 1850 he improved significantly on the albumen paper print process. This strong image was made by Blanquart-Evrard himself, though he is also well-known for publishing the portfolios of such notables as John Beasly Greene and Henri Le Secq. He also founded the well-known Blanquart-Evrard Printing Company.
