Shinzo Fukuhara is often called the father of Japanese modern photography. He was also well known as the founder of the Shiseido cosmetics company. By 1923 he wrote this groundbreaking publication "Hikari to Sono Kaicho" [Light with its Harmony], which proposed the theory of applying the Japanese aesthetic of haiku poetry to photography.
