About This Image

Two photographs of Kennedy playing with his daughter Kara. Signed and addressed on the verso by the photographer's wife, with other notations in unknown hand. Kara Anne Kennedy Allen (February 27, 1960–September 16, 2011) was a member of the American political dynasty, the Kennedy family. She was the oldest of the three children of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy.

Vytas Valaitis was born in 1931. He worked for PIX Publishing, a New York City photo bureau that supplied news and feature photos to magazines, especially LIFE and, later Sports Illustrated. He made important portraits of Pablo Casals and the Kennedy family, among other celebrities.

Valaitis, only 34, died October 4, 1965, following a motorcycle accident in New York City, as he was preparing to cover Pope Paul VI's visit. He was a talented and highly respected photographer, according to the Saturday Evening Post.

The Yale University Library has his work in their collection. His work was published in the 1961, 1962 and 1966 Photography Annual, published by Popular Photography.

Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
