A fine composition from the Japanese Pictorial tradition, with a wide range of tonalities. Written on verso in pencil: "Hirai - izumi." Hirogane graduated from Tokyo's Commercial High School in 1916 and began working for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagoya as General Affairs accountant. His professional career allowed him the luxury of pursuing photography. He printed in both silver gelatin and bromoil. His subject matter, both rural and industrial scenes, were photographed around Aichi prefecture.
