About This Image
Matted and in custom black hardwood contemporary frames. Henry Steven's (1843-1925) carbon prints of orchids are listed in the Oct. 7, 1882 issue of the Photographic Journal. He also received a medal from the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain for one of his flowers in 1882, as well as at the 1882 Brussels International Photographic Exhibition. He was a member of the RPS from 1882-1897. He lived in Addlestone in Surrey, U.K. He was known for his beautiful carbon enlargements from an 8 x10 in. negative. He took mostly images of flowers, then later his pets (a dog and a cat) and some portraits.
