About This Image

On a Carlo Ponti mount with printed title and information in French on verso of the mount. Provenance: old collection of J. Harrison, Jr. purchased in 1861.

Alessandro Leopardi (sometimes called Leopardo) (working by 1480s – 1522/23) was a Venetian sculptor, bronze founder and architect. In 1505 he designed and cast the bronze bases, decorated in high relief, for the three great mast-like flagpoles in the Piazza San Marco, one of which is pictured here. Each base is different and this one in the centre has on a medallion a profile of the doge, Leonardo Loredan.

Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
