The Daguerreian Society will hold its 26th Annual Symposium from September 26-29, 2014 in Austin, TX. For information on the Symposium, go here: http://daguerre.org/symposia/symposium2014.php. Both members and non-members are welcome. The cost of the Symposium is only $215 for members and $255 for non-members.
The 2014 International Symposium includes:
--Lecture presentations on daguerreotypes with world-class speakers.
--Exhibitions of daguerreotypes and other early photography.
--Walking tours of local points of interest and behind-the scenes tours, including viewing the world's first photograph at the Harry Ramson Centeer.
--A Gala Reception, which will be held at the Texas State Library and Archives.
--An evening Dinner Banquet at the Sheraton Austin.
--A lively Benefit Auction of donated and consigned daguerreotypes.
In addition, the Daguerreian Society TradeFair with dealers from around the U.S. and Canada, will offer the world's largest display of daguerreotypes for sale, as well as other 19th-century photography. Symposium attendees receive free early admission (prior to general public admission). Dealer tables are available.
The trade fair will be held on Sunday, September 28th, and will open to the general public at 10 am, and runs through 4pm. Admission is $10 for those not attending the Symposium, with over 50 dealer tables of daguerreotypes and other 19th-century photography. Tables are still available: contact the Society for details.
