Firmin Gémier (1869-1933) was a French actor and director. A pupil of Antoine and the creator of the role of Père Ubu, he became interested in popular theater, directing Romain Rolland's Le 14 juillet in 1902, creating the short-lived Théâtre Ambulant (1911-12), which toured France by rail, and becoming the director of the first Théâtre National Populaire in 1920. The photographer's name and date are reversed out of the negative and there is a red ink stamp of "The Art Studio" on the verso, as well as an identification of the sitter in blue ink. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
