DESCRIPTION:Angus McBean was a master of costume, prop, and special effects. This group portrait of an unidentified sitters in drag--from 19th-century costume to full flapper dress--has all the earmarks of McBean's exacting standards, no detail left untouched. Drag was a subject within this homosexual artist's purview, and he approaches it with a compelling mixture of professional seriousness and camp. A racy cast of characters, indeed.
