Bolton was active from about 1895-1905, and the prints date from that period. They represent his working prints and are probably all that remain of his work apart from a few prints in the Royal Photographic Society collection. He is mentioned in Margaret Harker's book on the Linked Ring and was a member of the Linked Ring and was a fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.
