Comes in original oak frame in good condition with a plaque engraved with the title, photographer credit and "On Line Southern Pacific Company". Has been reglazed with UV acrylic, but the original glass is also still available. Tibbitts' panoramic work has sold for over $35,000 at auction. His studio was based in San Francisco. Tibbitts was known for his photographs of Western landscapes, including a few large panoramas, such as this one of the iconic Mount Shasta. A fair amount of Tibbitts' work is published in "Sunset" magazine. According to the Museum of New Mexico, Photographic Archives, he died in 1937. His work can be found in the collections of the Tempe Department of Archives & Manuscripts/ASU; the Berkeley Bancroft Library; the Santa Fe Museum of New Mexico-Photographic Archives; the Heard Museum Library and Archives; the California Historical Society; San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park; and the Holt-Atherton Department of Special Collections.Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer.
