"Photographs of Nagasaki": Before and After the A Bomb, 1955
Six 4x6 inch Original Gelatin Silver Prints, plus 2 Photo Postcards.
An astoundingly powerful compilation of small-scale photographs taken in Nagasaki in 1945, and again, in 1955. The devastation of that city is therein recorded with chilling accuracy. Featured are 2 two-piece, panoramic views of the harbor taken before, and then three weeks after, the dropping of the Bomb (the second showing an incredibly devastated landscape); and a small vista of the "hypocenter" of the Bomb explosion taken in 1945, and again—happily enough—after the site's reconstruction. There is also a short text that accompanies the photographs describing where the photographs were taken (each photograph has a number on the back that corresponds to the list), and other facts and points of interest (a Mitsubishi Steel Factory). The text alone has historic value. Paper is well worn but whole. Photos in very good condition.
