Celebrating its 36th edition, The Photography Show, one of the world's most highly anticipated annual photography events, will be held April 14-17, 2016, at the Park Avenue Armory in New York. Presented by the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD), the fair is the longest-running and foremost exhibition dedicated to the photographic medium.
Eighty-six of the world's leading fine art photography galleries will present a wide range of museum-quality work, including contemporary, modern, and 19th-century photographs as well as photo-based art, video, and new media.

The Show will commence with an opening night preview on April 13, 2016.
The Photography Show presented by AIPAD attracts the largest group of collectors interested in photography in the U.S.," said Catherine Edelman, president of AIPAD and director of the Catherine Edelman Gallery. "They rely on AIPAD for exposure to the most talented artists working in photography today as well as important photography from all time periods."
The Photography Show will feature galleries from across the U.S. and around the world, including Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico, and South America.

Charles Schwartz Ltd., (Booth 415) will show a photograph of the moon from the Lunar Orbiter project in 1966, which enabled NASA to determine where it would be possible for man to land on the moon. The image shows the crater Copernicus, one of the most prominent features on the face of the Moon. This print is from the collection of George Keene, who headed the team responsible for visually mapping the moon during the Apollo program. Keene's work on the Lunar Orbiter project yielded images of the moon's surface that were unprecedented in their precision and sharpness. A number of other NASA-related images will be available in the booth.

Southworth & Hawes, Young Girl with Chair, full-plate daguerreotype (at Contemporary Works/Vintage Works, Booth 307)
Contemporary Works/Vintage Works (Booth 307) will feature a number of large and important daguerreotypes, including two spectacular and iconic full-plate Southworth & Hawes portraits; two half-plates dags by Charles Negre—the only two known to be on the market; and three stereo daguerreotypes of nudes by or attributed to Bruno Braquehais. The company will also show a group of 16x20 inch contemporary dags by Jerry Spagnoli.
Other 19th-century work includes a wonderful genre image by Oscar Rejlander, entitled Reverie Roses; an early and important photograph of Pompeii by Le Gray/Le Dien; two of Julia M. Cameron's fine portraits of women; several of Henri Le Secq's studies of plaster casts and cathedral details; and a pair of large images of Hanging Game by Charles Negre (as well as numerous city and landscape photographs by this master).
Twentieth-century work that Contemporary Works/Vintage Works will have on display in its booth includes a large size Mainbocher Corset, Paris, by Horst; a magical portrait by Man Ray of "A Young Pablo Picasso in His Studio in Front of Paintings"; several vintage Henri Cartier-Bresson's; Albert Renger-Patzsch's Sunflower in an oversized exhibition print; several early Brassai's of Picasso in various poses; a later print of Edward Steichen's Steeplechase Day, Paris, after the Races, 1905; several important Eugene Atget prints; an early print (circa 1960 or before) by Walker Evans of his iconic "Penny Picture Display, Savannah, GA"; a number of key and early Andre Kertesz photographs, including a unique and oversized "Sur les Quais, Paris", which may very well be the largest print that Kertesz ever produced at over 40 x 30 inches; a rare platinum print of Aida, a Maid of Tangier by Baron Adolph De Meyer, which is a slight variant of the one published in Camera Work (that gravure is also available); a vintage print of the surrealist Manuel Alvarez Bravo image, "The Washerwomen Implied (Las Labanderas Sorbrentendidas)"; and many other photo masterworks.

Eugene Atget, Arbre, St. Cloud, Silver print, ca. 1922 (at Lee Gallery, Booth 212)
Lee Gallery (Booth 212) plans to exhibit a wide reaching array of vintage 19th- and 20th-century photographs.
The gallery will show pictures and texts documenting various art practices by Vito Acconci, Bill Viola and Lew Thomas.
Also on display will be a large and unusual Edward Steichen exhibition print of the USS Lexington shot with infrared film in 1943.
A copy of Alvin Langdon Coburn's "London" is also available from the gallery.
Available by special request will be an exquisite group of vintage Paul Strand photographs from the 1950s that you won't want to miss.
Visitors will also find pictures by Eugene Atget, Sonya Noskowiak, Robert Adams, Dorothea Lange, Laura Gilpin, Walker Evans, Roman Vishniac, Robert Frank, Wright Morris, Brett Weston and Karl Struss at Lee Gallery's booth.

PUBLIC PROGRAMS Saturday, April 16
The Photography Show will present a series of panel discussions featuring leading curators, artists, dealers, and journalists from 10 a.m. though 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 16. Topics will include artists and the Internet, collecting, photography book publishing, and artists' processes in the digital age.
