Jerry Spagnoli, represented by Contemporary Works/Vintage Works, has been named a Guggenheim Fellow in Photography.

Jerry Spagnoli is perhaps the most significant contemporary daguerreotypist, as well as an important color photographer. He took the daguerreotypes that Chuck Close is credited for, as well as teaching the process to several other contemporary artists,.

His work is in a number of museum collections, including The Whitney Museum of American Art, The National Portrait Gallery, The Chrysler Museum, The Fogg Museum, The High Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Nelson Atkins Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Oakland Museum, The New York Historical Society, The Museum of the City of New York, The Cleveland Museum, and Musee Carnavalet, Paris. He has five photobooks out already, and another photobook is to be published by Steidl Publishing in the next year or so.
